Structure of Program

The Master of Science in Telecommunications Systems program requires all students to complete a minimum of 32 credit hours, including a professional project.  All students are required to complete the following core coursework:

  • TCOM 5113 Telecommunications Industry Overview
  • TCOM 5213 Network Design and Management
  • TCOM 5272 Telecommunications Laboratory
  • TCOM 5553 Telecommunications Technology
  • TCOM 5671 Professional Project Proposal
  • TCOM 5680 Professional Project

Each student must satisfactorily complete a comprehensive professional project, constituted by satisfactory completion of TCOM 5671 – Professional Project Proposal and TCOM 5682 – Professional Project, as described below, and a successful defense of the project as a part of the oral comprehensive examination. TCOM 5671 and TCOM 5672 cannot be taken during the same semester.

In addition to courses from the common core, students must complete at least 12 hours of technical elective course work from TCOM, ECE, MATH, and/or CS.

Each student should select a major advisor and two other members of the Graduate Faculty to form an Advisory Committee, then file an approved TCOM Master’s Program Approval Form upon completing twelve hours of studies.
