Interop Lab

The Interoperability Lab is a state-of-the-art telecommunications lab that can simulate actual networks. This allows us to assess the impact of incorporating new network hardware and software sub-systems in a realistic environment. The OU Interop Lab significantly reduces the business risk of entrepreneurs and equipment providers and the operational risk of telecommunications service providers.

The mission of the Interop Lab is to build flexible and interconnected model configurations consisting of multi vendor ATM, IP, TDM and WDM equipment including fixed and mobile access components. While at the same time systematically assessing the impact of nodal and access configurations and hardware/software elements on users.

The Interop Lab goes beyond traditional operability testing which includes:

  • Unit testing
  • Integration testing
  • Functionality testing / System testing

By asking the question, “Is the overall customer configuration under a defined ambient environment consistent with user’s expectation?” instead of, “Does the product work?”
